kicking and screaming

As the Flurry of Dancing Flames, Axel is an expert when it comes to fire manipulation. He uses two wheel shaped weapons called Chakrams, which often utilize the element of fire; setting the tips or even the whole chakram in flames. In Chain of Memories, Axel can create an unavoidable wall of fire that expands from him across the entire field. Being able to deftly throwing the wheels from a distance, his chakrams become twice as deadly when they are duplicated and sent to ricochet around the battlefield and at his opponent with deadly and unavoidable speeds.

In Kingdom Hearts II (where I believe his true fighting style is revealed), Axel is extremely quick on his feet, and attacks with deadly precision and aim. After launching his weapons at his opponent, the chakrams will return to his hand with a boomerang-like effect. If the situation becomes dire, Axel abandons most defensive measures, and move forward to retrieve the weapons in midair instead of waiting for them to return. He can also consume them in fire and launch a formidable mid-ranged offensive assault for a short time as well as launch them as homing fireballs, glide along the ground with fire blazing behind him, or move next to his opponent and unleash a horizontal spiral of flame.

In serious one-on-one battles, Axel can create a tal ring of fire that block off any escape route. In this ring, he can leap out of view behind the fire before ambushing the foe from another point behind them. The ring itself can also harm opponents when they get too close. He can also turn the floor into a burning surface that slowly chips away at a person's health. If situation becomes hopeless, he can use a sacrificial attack on all surrounding enemies.

In Kingdom Hearts II, while Sora is trapped in Betwixt and Between by Nobodies, Axel joins up with Sora and after delivering one last attack to wipe out their opponents entirely, Axel slowly starts to fade away and die. It is here that Axel gives Sora the Bond of Flame keyblade, which may represent the friendship shared between Axel and Roxas. The keyblade itself resembles Axel's chakrams; when you attack with it, tiny chakrams and flames appear. Apart from the two chakram-like shapes that make up the keyblade, they are joined by a metal "8", a reference to Axel's ranking in the Organization. As I'm sure you might have guessed, this keyblade enhances all fire-based attacks.

becoming axel

In Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, not only is Axel able to be a part of your party, but you can play as him in Mission Mode. Like always, Axel fights with his chakrams in his ever deadly fashion. His weapon is very versatile and is good in both long and short-range combat. Like all of the playable characters in this game, Axel and his chakrams can be customized. When properly altered, Axel's chakrams can be thrown at enemies while engulfed in flames and then create a small explosion on contact. During Axel's final limit, he is able to combine his chakrams to form one giant version of the weapon, which is easily several times larger than the original version. The explosion created from this version of his chakrams is much greater and causes more damage.
